Every year the city of Barletta, in the month of February and in the
summer, remembers the historic episode with a long series of initiatives
that also take place in the other cities included in the "Ettore
Fieramosca - Massimo D'Azeglio" Literary Park Association.
The knightly competition is the most popular event. People attend
the event in numbers that can only be compared to those reached
for major religious events. They live and breathe the Medieval atmosphere
that surrounds the city.
The scenario is marvelous: Barletta is decorated with Spanish standards,
shields and torches that light the lanes of the historic town centre.
The commemoration of the famous "challenge" attracts
a large number of participants. Each year famous actors take turns
in reciting the roles of the legendary warriors and the court of
the epoch.
